Well it’s here folks, yes the end of summer. A little sad, saying goodbye to the long days and the warm afternoons, but I know I always look forward to the fall season. So bring it on! Let the leaves change color, let the air cool, and let’s go get pumpkin spice whatever-they’re-selling at your local coffee shop!

In other news, it’s time for Newscom’s Best of the Month round-up, with some truly great pictures from August. Of course, we saw some gorgeous pictures of Scotland, the Isles of Scilly, and Turkmenistan — all in our Travel Photography series. And, who can forget the German Finger Wrestling picture? Classic.

In the headlines this month, Gaza and Israel are still fighting, ISIS is becoming ever more threatening to the international world, and sadly, the beloved Robin Williams passed away. Protests in Ferguson have thankfully died down, but questions of race and conflict still plague the Missourian town.

However, on the lighter — and perhaps a little colder — side, the Ice Bucket Challenge has proven to be quite the donation campaign for ALS research. Celebrities such as Benedict Cumberbatch, Matt Damon, and Britney Spears, have all participated in the challenge. And of course, they’ve also donated money to the good cause.

See some of the best pictures from this August below, then come find many more at Newscom!
